First signs of slowdown in New Zealand's sprinting housing market
29 July 2021
New figures from OneRoof show median property value hit a record high 791-thousand dollars this month, a jump of 21 per cent on last July.
But the pace of growth in the last three months stalled to 5.5 per cent -- with it felt most in Auckland where prices rose just 4.3 per cent.
One Roof's Owen Vaughan says we'll soon see whether this is a longer term trend, or a blip in the market.
He says we'll start to see how much of an effect the Government's tax changes for property investors has had, along with the rise in mortgage rates.
