A pesky gaggle of Canada geese fouling Kapiti's waterways are being told to flock off

A pesky gaggle of Canada geese fouling Kapiti's waterways are being told to flock off

Kapiti Coast District Council has this morning begun a population control operation with a contracted pest expert.

It's Mayor says they've heard the call from the community for action especially in Awatea Lakes and Otaraua Park.

K Gurunathan says the number of geese at sports venues and parks is too high -- and poses a serious health risk.

Geese droppings can carry diseases like avian influenza, campylobacter, E coli and salmonella.
