Five local teens aged 15 and 16 died when the Nissan Bluebird they were travelling in struck a power pole about 7.30 last night.
One of the victims was found in the vehicle's boot.
Stuff reports the 19-year-old driver has posted on social media saying he is 'so, so, so sorry to the families' that he has put in pain.
He's called the crash a 'stupid mistake' that has cost five lives.
