A few tempting factors stuck out, but little could deter Shea McAleese from his decision to retire

A few tempting factors stuck out, but little could deter Shea McAleese from his decision to retire

The 37-year-old Black Sticks defender has called time on a career spanning 17 years, and including 320 appearances for New Zealand.

McAleese is content with his decision, though admits upcoming tournaments did prove tough to turn away from.

McAleese won two medals at the Commonwealth Games and competed at four Olympic Games, including this year's Tokyo Games.
