One of the greatest to wear the black jersey and silver fern in Waka Nathan has died aged 81

One of the greatest to wear the black jersey and silver fern in Waka Nathan has died aged 81

Nathan - a flanker in his rugby playing days - amassed a total of 37 matches from 1962 to 1967 for the All Blacks including 14 test matches.

Renowned sports journalist Phil Gifford says Nathan was unique for his time as a ferocious ball runner, and helped influence the likes of Michael Jones and Richie McCaw.

Former All Blacks and Wallabies skills coach Mick Byrne has been confirmed as the head coach of the Fijian Drua - one of two new teams in the 2022 Super Rugby competition.

The Silver Ferns will be missing two of their leaders for tonight's third and final netball test against England.

Skipper Gina Crampton and vice captain Sulu Fitzpatrick have both been ruled out along with Tiana Metuarau.

That sees Kimiora Poi, Jamie Hume and Georgia Tong come into the matchday squad.
