Covid-19 has impacted the naming of the first Football Ferns squad under new coach Jitka  Klimkova

Covid-19 has impacted the naming of the first Football Ferns squad under new coach Jitka Klimkova

Klimkova's squad of 22 for internationals against Canada later this month includes six debutants.

A number of players who play club football in New Zealand and Australia - like Hannah Wilkinson and Paige Satchell - weren't named due to travel difficulties presented by the pandemic.

Klimkova says she and her colleagues decided the travel risks for such players was too big.

Abby Erceg hasn't been named due to personal reasons.
