Police have concluded the death of Australian student Joe Jenkins was a tragic accident

The 20-year-old was hit by a vehicle in Te Awamutu, in Waikato, in August.

Detective Senior Sergeant, Ross Patterson, says police are no longer seeking information from the public and no charges have been laid.

He says staff have been supporting Jenkins' family in New Zealand and Australia.

The matter will be referred to the Coroner.
