Canterbury cyclist Michael Vink has grabbed the leader's yellow jersey from Campbell Stewart after winning stage two of the Tour of Southland

The two times former champion has comfortably won the 172 kilometre stage from Invercargill to Lumsden ahead of Logan Currie.



The Wellington Phoenix and the Breakers are saying their final goodbyes, before jetting off to Australia for their respective campaigns.

Both sides are departing Wellington for Sydney this afternoon on a charter flight.



Winning the prestigious five star three day event in Pau has gone some way to making up for the disappointment of a failed Olympic campaign for Kiwi Equestrian Tim Price.

The world number three finished 24th in the individual three day event in Tokyo, with the New Zealand team missing out on medals in the team's competition.

Price's victory in France this morning on rookie 12 year old horse Falco has helped erase some of that disappointment.
