Authorities have growing concerns around a pest from across the ditch

Authorities have growing concerns around a pest from across the ditch

Biosecurity New Zealand is urging Kiwis camping or tramping this summer to keep an eye out for Wallabies.

The small animals have a big appetite for native bush.

Its estimated damage caused by Wallabies in lost farm production and ecosystem services will cost up to 84 million dollars by 2025.

Biosecurity New Zealand's director of readiness and response John Walsh says they can't afford to let wallaby populations spread.

He says they encourage anyone who spots a Wallaby to report it to them.
