Kiwi businesses are feeling the squeeze, as prices rise and staff become harder to get

An Institute of Economic Research survey has found businesses are facing acute labour shortages, which is lifting costs, along with supply chain problems.

More than half had to raise prices in the last quarter, and a net 65 percent plan to do so this quarter.

Principal economist, Christina Leung , says activity and confidence are weakening.

She says businesses are feeling more cautious and inflation's accelerating - so the Reserve Bank will have a tough job.
