The Government's hoping an MIQ Omicron infection hasn't spread far

An Auckland Airport worker now has Covid-19, and until sequencing's back, is being treated as having the new strain.

Their one household contact has returned an initial negative test.

Meanwhile, an Omicron infected Stamford Plaza infected MIQ worker has already passed the virus to a household contact.

Three other contacts - including a co-worker - are symptomatic but continue to test negative.

Covid Minister Chris Hipkins says at the moment, the cases look contained.
