Wellington is rolling out new water restrictions -- and there could be more on the way

A complete sprinkler ban takes effect at midnight tonight.

Wellington Water Chief Advisor Lawrence Edwards says people need to follow the rules this Wellington Anniversary Weekend.

He says if they aren't then they may need to put level three in place, which bans outdoor water usage completely.

Other parts of the country are also in line for water shortages and restrictions if dry conditions continue.
