Auckland's annual Anniversary Day Regatta is going ahead -- under the Red Traffic Light restrictions

Dragon boat races can't go ahead under the current rules.

But tugboats, yachts and dinghies will take to the water -- with Westhaven being the best place to watch the action from 10am.

Regatta Executive Officer Joyce Talbot says nothing -- not even Omicron -- is standing in the event's way.

She says the only time the race hasn't go ahead was during the Boer War.
