    Two people and a dog have been winched to safety after their boat sunk off Otago's coast


    A Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre spokesman says a beacon alert was received about 11.30am - and the Otago Regional Rescue Helicopter was on the scene about 55 minutes later.

    No-one was injured, but the Otago Daily Times reports the two people have had a check up at Dunedin Hospital..

    The cause of the sinking is still to be determined.
