Gisborne Police are investigating what led to a man being found in a ditch with life threatening injuries in Mahia this month

Gisborne Police are investigating what led to a man being found in a ditch with life threatening injuries in Mahia this month

The 47-year-old's injuries on March 1 were initially reported to be an accident -- but are now being investigated as a grievous assault.

Police believe a number of people hold information which can identify who's responsible.

They're urging anyone who has information to come forward.
