Two people have died so far on the roads this Easter

Nine people died during the entire holiday period last year.

A passenger in a fleeing vehicle lost their life on Thursday night in Takanini, in South Auckland, when the car they were in hit a pole.

One person died and another was critically injured in a crash at Jacks Point, near Queenstown, yesterday evening.

The accident involved a sedan and a ute and the roof of one vehicle was sliced off.

Earlier, a third person was seriously hurt near Glenorchy when their vehicle was trapped between a rolling truck and a shed.
