The Commerce Commission and Vodafone are both appealing a record 2.25-million dollar fine for the telco - with two different goals

The Commerce Commission and Vodafone are both appealing a record 2.25-million dollar fine for the telco - with two different goals

The fine was for a ruling Vodafone's Fibre X ad campaign was misleading - but the company claims the judgment had errors, and misunderstood its services.

Meanwhile, the Commission says the penalty isn't enough, given Vodafone's resources, and offending it calls wilful.

The Herald's Chris Keall, says the Commission doesn't believe the fine is enough of a deterrence.

He says it had aimed for a 5.8 million dollar penalty originally.
