It's been another night of heavy rain and strong winds in many parts of the country

It's been another night of heavy rain and strong winds in many parts of the country

Part of Main Drain Road near Palmerston North has been blocked by flooding.

However, the opening of the Moutoa Floodgates has prevented the Main Drain stop banks from breaching, and will remain open to ease pressure on the Oroua.

Part of State Highway 56 south-west of Palmerston North is closed, and the Upper Buller Gorge and Milford Road are also closed.

An Orange Wind Warning remains in effect for Hawke's Bay and Southland,

Snowfall warnings are in place for Lewis Pass, Arthurs Pass, Crown Range Road and Milford Road.
