Queenstown-Lakes District mayor says pre-departure tests' use-by date is well and truly up

Queenstown-Lakes District mayor says pre-departure tests' use-by date is well and truly up

The tourist town's welcoming news the requirement's going , as it braces for a record ski season.

Covid-19 Response Minister Ayesha Verrall confirmed tests would be dropped as of next Tuesday morning.

Mayor Jim Boult says the tests were becoming a waste of time, but he understands the caution.

He says he doesn't think the tests were putting too many people off coming to New Zealand - but the timing is immaculate as the ski season prepares to kick off.
