Secondary school students dealing with a third year in the pandemic will have to wait until at least next term to find out if there's extra help on the way

Secondary school students dealing with a third year in the pandemic will have to wait until at least next term to find out if there's extra help on the way

Extra measures were put in place to help students achieve NCEA after lockdowns the past two years.

While students haven't dealt with lockdowns, they've had school closures and one in five are off school each day, due to sickness.

Auckland Secondary Schools' Principals' Association head Greg Pierce doubts schools will hear if there will be measures like extra credits on offer, until September.

He says an earlier decision would give staff and students peace of mind about NCEA and help students stay motivated if they knew it was achievable.
