Foster's men face the Springboks, in the first of two Rugby Championship tests tomorrow morning - with the New Zealand Herald reporting that he's been told by his bosses they expect him to resign, if his side loses in South Africa, or fails to show definitive improvements.
Coming off the back of that historic home series loss to Ireland, and changes to their coaching staff, Foster the task ahead is very clear.
