Philip Polkinghorne has pleaded not guilty to murdering health boss Pauline Hanna at her home last April.
Under conditions of the 69-year-old's release, the Auckland District Court has ordered him to choose one of his two homes as his primary residence, and must stay either there or at his mother's house.
Polkinghorne must also surrender his passport, abide by a 10pm to 6am curfew, not buy or consume illegal drugs, and not have any contact with Crown witnesses.
His next court appearance is scheduled for the High Court at Auckland later this month.
