Researchers out of Otago University are calling for changes to pre-surgery care

Their new study has confirmed exercising before an operation will substantially improve a patient's rate of recovery, reducing the risk of complications by 56-percent.
Lead researcher Dr Kari Clifford says policy makers should consider incorporating high intensity work outs into pre-operative care.
Clifford says funded programmes would be more cost effective, and better for people's quality of life.
She says even four weeks of exercise makes a difference.
