The countdown's on to the start of the Netball World Cup in South Africa

The countdown's on to the start of the Netball World Cup in South Africa

New Zealand's champion Silver Ferns take on Trinidad and Tobago tonight from 7pm.

Goal keep Kelly Jury is set for a switch to wing defence, with the whole squad to get a run.

The Matildas still hope their captain Sam Kerr can return from injury for their football World Cup clash against Canada on Monday.

Kerr is in a race against time to recover from a calf injury.

The co-hosts now almost certainly need to beat the Canadians in Melbourne to reach the Round of 16, after last night's disastrous 3-2 loss to Nigeria in Brisbane.

And it's only pre-season but encouraging signs for the Tasman Mako men's rugby side, ahead of the NPC - beating neighbours Canterbury 47-24 in Hanmer Springs.
