Work is progressing on the proposed Clarence River bridge, seven years after the original bridge was destroyed in the Kaikoura earthquake

Work is progressing on the proposed Clarence River bridge, seven years after the original bridge was destroyed in the Kaikoura earthquake

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service the $13.5 million project, will be located 500 metres downstream from the Glen Alton bridge.

That bridge was wiped out in the 2016 quake, leaving Clarence Valley residents vulnerable to being cut off in heavy rain events.

The project is pending Environment Canterbury's approval, with a resource consent decision expected in November.
