A Manawatu worker's arm amputation is prompting renewed calls to be on high alert around machinery

A Manawatu worker's arm amputation is prompting renewed calls to be on high alert around machinery

As the man cleaned a conveyor belt, at Dunlop Drymix in Feilding, late in 2021 - his right arm was grabbed by rollers.

Surgeons couldn't reattach his arm, and he remains off work.

WorkSafe's established the conveyor's emergency stop was non-functional - and the off switch was in the next warehouse.

Investigation manager, Paul Budd says the company's since improved its health and safety practices.
