Electric vehicle sellers are gearing up for the final week of the clean car rebate, as demand begins to spike

The rebate -- a maximum of 10 percent of the vehicle's cost -- comes ends in a week, with people looking to cash in before paying the full price.

B-Y-D Auto general manager Warren Wilmott says they're taking orders up until Thursday, to ensure paperwork is in order ahead of New Year's Day.

He says they typically sell around 150 to 400 cars per month -- by Christmas Eve they had over 600 registrations for December.
