    The Holiday Road toll has risen to 19 after a person died in a crash in Northland


    Emergency services were called to a single vehicle crash at the intersection of Waima Valley Road and Puha Road, south of Hokianga, just before 6.30pm last night.

    The person died in hospital a short time later.

    The holiday road toll period ran from 4pm on December 22, and finished at 6 this morning.

    Last year, 21 people lost their lives on our roads during the same period.
