Twenty people have died on our roads during the holiday period - only one less than last summer

Twenty people have died on our roads during the holiday period - only one less than last summer

A woman has died in hospital, days after a crash south of Hastings left her with critical injuries.

The two cars collided last Saturday, at about 1:30pm - at the intersection of State Highway 50 and Maraekakaho Road.

Police say their thoughts are with the woman's family and her loved ones - as they continue to investigate the crash.

New Zealand has one of the highest road fatality rates per capita, in the world - according to 2022 OECD data.
