Firefighters are continuing work to extinguish two scrub fires in North Canterbury

Overnight, around 17 firefighters monitored and dampened down hotspots in the 10 hectare fire along Loburn Whiterock Road.
Around 30 fresh firefighters and six staff are working to fully extinguish fires in the area this morning - supported by heavy machinery and aircraft if needed.
A number of homes and properties have been destroyed.
The fire at Amberley is contained and controlled - with 17 firefighters working overnight.
Six crews and heavy machinery are continuing to work on hotspots and flareups today - with a helicopter on standby.
It's expected to take several days to fully extinguish the fire.
