A suggestion the Government will need to revisit a list of 13 new cancer drugs, it has pledged to fund, before going ahead with the plan

During the election campaign, National promised to pay for them, by re-instating the five dollar prescription fee.

Cancer expert Professor Chris Jackson, helped write a report that the list of drugs was drawn from.

He says it was a snapshot, and time has moved on, so it would need to be updated.

Jackson says that report just looked at the gap between Australia and New Zealand, in terms of what the most effective drugs were, but not what the most cost effective drugs were.
