All eyes will be on Christchurch this weekend - as the city hosts SailGP for the second year in a row

Around 22-thousand people are expected to flock to Lyttelton for the races - replacing plans to hold the event in Auckland's Waitemata.

It's the biggest ticketed sailing event held worldwide.

Managing director Andrew Thompson says they're expecting a large global audience.

He says they're averaging about 15-million viewers per broadcast currently - with many watching in the US, Europe, Brazil and China.
