A 130-run partnership between Amy Jones and Charlie Dean has seen England beat New Zealand by four wickets in their opening women's one-day international in Wellington

A 130-run partnership between Amy Jones and Charlie Dean has seen England beat New Zealand by four wickets in their opening women's one-day international in Wellington

Chasing 208 for victory, England were hamstrung at 79 for six early on before 92 from the bat of Jones and 42 from Dean saw them home.

The White Ferns earlier collapsed for 207 all out despite being 90 without loss early on, with Suzie Bates hitting 50.

Skipper Melie Kerr told TVNZ they should've adapted better with the bat.

New Zealand must win game two in Hamilton on Thursday to have a chance of taking the series.
