Michael Bracewell will captain an under-strength Black Caps side for five Twenty20 internationals against Pakistan later this month

Nine players currently at the Indian Premier League will skip the series, while Colin Munro, Will Young and Tom Latham are unavailable.

Bracewell takes on the national captaincy for the first time, having sat out the past year due to Achilles and finger injuries.

Batter Tim Robinson's earned a maiden selection after a standout domestic campaign with Wellington, while Will O'Rourke's including having debuted in tests and ODIs this summer.

Seven players return from the recent series defeat to Australia, while Jacob Duffy, Dean Foxcroft, Ben Lister, Cole McConchie and Jimmy Neesham return.
