Three people have been picked up by Police after an aggravated burglary at a petrol station in Auckland's Otara

Detective Inspector Karen Bright says a trio arrived on the forecourt in a stolen vehicle just after 5.30am.

She says they allegedly tried to force their way inside -- but the store's worker activated the fog cannon - prompting the alleged offenders to flee.

The Eagle Helicopter spotted the vehicle abandoned in Clover Park -- with officers taking the three people into custody at a nearby address.
