Wellington Phoenix defender Finn Surman is taking pride in his side's strong defensive effort this A-League season

The table-toppers have conceded the least number of goals with 23 - less than half of the Brisbane Roar's league-worst total of 48.

Surman says everyone in the squad is playing their part.

The Phoenix tackle the champions, the Central Coast Mariners, in tonight's top-of-the-table contest in Gosford... kickoff's at 7.30pm.
