The closure of a key footbridge is hurting hospo businesses in Auckland's Wynyard Quarter

The closure of a key footbridge is hurting hospo businesses in Auckland's Wynyard Quarter

The Wynyard crossing bridge will undergo a full overhaul of old parts - forcing it to close until late this year.

It turns a 20-second walk from the Viaduct into a 20-minute one.

The Conservatory owner Tricky Hartley says Eke Panuku hasn't given any real solutions.

He says it's had a huge impact - with his turnover down anywhere from 50 to 70 percent.

Wynyard Pavilion's general manager Alex Pearson says it's been one thing after another for them.

He says they're concerned about the businesses, but are more concerned about providing hours and money to their staff.

North Park Manager Sandhya Nemani says their foot traffic's seen a big decline.
