    Rafael Nadal has waved goodbye to the Madrid tennis Open for the final time as a player


    A record five-time champion at his home tournament, Nadal - who is expected to retire after his season - has been beaten in straight sets by Czech Jiri Lehecka .

    The Spanish veteran is expected to play in Rome next week before one last visit to the French Open later this month, a venue he's won at 14 times.
