The Government says it's aiming to invest in social services early, to prevent future harm and save costs

The Government says it's aiming to invest in social services early, to prevent future harm and save costs

The Finance Minister today announced next week's Budget 2025 includes money for a new Social Investment Fund -- starting at 190 million dollars.

The first initiatives to benefit are Autism NZ's early intervention, Emerge Aotearoa's scheme to tackle youth crime, and an iwi Maori collective with wraparound services.

Nicola Willis says each investment will be evaluated.

She says the Government can invest taxpayer money with confidence, and will help at least 20 initiatives over the next year.
