Lockly has introduced the Smart Safe XL at CES, expanding its smart safe lineup with a roomier model that builds on the original Lockly Smart Safe. The new version increases storage capacity and deepens integration with Lockly’s ecosystem of smart locks, cameras, and access tools.
Designed to secure valuables and documents, the Smart Safe XL supports multiple access methods: fingerprint, PIN code, smartphone app, or physical key. A 2-inch color IPS display sits on the front panel, alongside Lockly’s PIN Genie keypad, which randomizes number groupings to reduce the risk of code theft from shoulder-surfing or fingerprint tracing.
Lockly lists the Smart Safe XL’s storage dimensions at 380 x 300mm (14.96 × 11.81 inches), offering a more spacious interior without significantly increasing its footprint compared to the original Lockly Smart Safe. Constructed from a steel alloy, the safe is built for use in home offices, shared spaces, or small businesses where both access control and physical security are priorities.
Biometric access is handled by a 3D fingerprint sensor that Lockly says can recognize a registered fingerprint in just 0.2 seconds. The safe supports multiple fingerprint profiles and includes a duress feature that can trigger a silent alert if a designated finger is used under duress. Users can also enable twin credential authentication, requiring two fingerprints or administrator codes to unlock.
The Smart Safe XL can trigger Lockly IP cameras to begin recording if tampering is detected.

Built-in Wi-Fi allows for remote management through the Lockly Home app, which lets users view activity logs, monitor the safe’s status, and share access. The safe also supports offline access codes, so authorized users can still open the safe even if the network connection is down.
What separates the Smart Safe XL from the original model is its tighter integration with Lockly’s ecosystem. When paired with compatible smart locks, approved biometric credentials used at the door can automatically unlock the safe. It can also trigger Lockly IP cameras to begin recording if tampering is detected. The safe is compatible with TapCom, Lockly’s NFC-based guest access platform, enabling tap-based authentication and guest monitoring based on configuration.
Power comes from eight AA batteries, with an optional USB-C connection for wired power backup. Lockly estimates up to two years of battery life under regular use, with potentially longer runtimes in offline mode. The Smart Safe XL also lists support for Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, though voice assistant certification is still pending.
Lockly plans to launch the Smart Safe XL in international markets in the second quarter of 2026, followed by a U.S. release in the third quarter, with a retail price of $339.99.
If you’re attending CES in person, Lockly is exhibiting its wares at Venetian Suite 29-318, where it is also showing its new Affirm Smart Lock series, Smart Safe XL, OwlGuard IPC100 home security camera, and TapCon access-control system for short-term rentals.
