    NPC leaders Canterbury are looking odds-on to make Southland's Ranfurly Shield reign a short one ... and win a sixth straight game

    Just six days after the Stags stunned Waikato to lift the Old Log, Canterbury have raced out to a commanding 28-nil lead at halftime in Invercargill.

    Hawke's Bay are up to fourth after easing past Wellington 45-19 in Napier ... the Lions now 11th.

    Manawatu are sixth after beating Waikato 36-26 in Palmerston North.
