    Auckland's train network is shutting down again this weekend - only eight days after fully reopening for the new year

    6 February 2026
    Buses will replace trains on all Auckland lines this weekend, along with some Wellington lines.

    The train network fully reopened on Thursday last week following a summer closure.

    That closure, and this weekend's closure, are being used for get the train network ready for the opening of the City Rail Link later this year.

    Further full and partial closures are planned in March, April and May.
