New data shows methamphetamine use is up across New Zealand

New data shows methamphetamine use is up across New Zealand

    2 March 2025
Wastewater findings shows consumption of the drug reached its highest level ever last year with 39.2 kilos being consumed a week in October.

Meth is the cheapest it's ever been with the price decreasing from 563 dollars a gram in 2017 to 360 dollars in 2024.

The one area where meth consumption is going down is the Bay of Plenty's Opotiki.

It plunged 50 percent after a raid on an alleged Mongrel Mob drug ring in the area.
