Retail NZ says there could be complications created by new gift card rules

The Commerce Commission has released guidance for retailers as minimum expiry dates move up to three years next year.
Retail NZ Chief Executive Carolyn Young says it could create issues for businesses who offer a gift card for a service rather than a specific dollar amount.
She says over a three year period the cost of administering the service could increase but still be covered by a gift card.
