Power is out across multiple areas of North Canterbury, from the Waimakariri River north to Mount Lyford Village, past Hanmer Springs

Waimakariri District Council says the high winds have caused extensive damage to the MainPower network, and people should prepare for extended outages.
Several roads remain blocked by fallen trees and branches - the most significant being Fishers Road, Birch Hill Road and Ashley Gorge Road, between Stonyflat Road and the Ashley Gorge Motor Camp in Oxford.
They're also asking people to conserve water while wastewater systems are impacted by power cuts.
Some schools, including North Loburn and Ashley-Rakahuri remain closed today.
