From Northland to Waitomo and across to Taihape, Taupo and Bay of Plenty
Rain, with some heavy falls, clearing from south this morning and afternoon and becoming mainly fine. Thunderstorms possible about central areas this afternoon.
Gisborne, Hawke's Bay
A few spots of rain, becoming widespread this afternoon with thunderstorms possible. Clearing this evening.
Taranaki to Wellington and Wairarapa
Cloudy periods. A few showers, some possibly heavy inland this afternoon with possible thunderstorms from Manawatu northwards.
Marlborough, Nelson
Scattered showers, some heavy this afternoon with thunderstorms possible. Clearing at night.
Buller to Westland
Isolated showers, clearing this afternoon or evening.
Canterbury, Otago, Southland, Fiordland
A few showers, mostly in the south and east, becoming confined to Fiordland this evening and long fine breaks developing elsewhere.
Chatham Islands
Rain, easing to a few showers this afternoon.
