Brief forecast for the Mountains up to midnight on Monday 16 December
A few showers today, becoming frequent tomorrow, when some will be heavy with
possible thunderstorms and downpours.
Strong northwesterlies, gale about the Ruahine and Tararua Ranges, turning
northerly and rising to gale everywhere later tomorrow.
About 3000 metres.
Mainly fine today with a few spots of rain tonight. Mostly cloudy tomorrow and
occasional rain developing from afternoon, becoming persistent at night.
Mainly fine with isolated showers.
Remaining mountain areas
Rain with heavy falls and possible thunderstorms, spreading north today.
Clearing for a time tonight until tomorrow morning. Snow to about 2000 metres.
Strong northwesterlies, gale in exposed places, changing lighter westerly this
afternoon or evening. Turning northerly and rising to gale later tomorrow.
About 2000 metres in Fiordland, sloping to 2800 metres in the north.
