    Rain with some heavy falls, easing to showers this afternoon. Thunderstorms possible about this afternoon and evening

    Tararua and Ruahine Forest Parks
    Showers, clearing this evening.

    WINDS
    Gale to severe gale northwesterlies.

    FREEZING LEVEL
    About 2800 metres.


    south island



    About and north of Nelson Lakes National Park
    Periods of rain, with possible heavy falls, squally thunderstorms and hail in the afternoons.

    Arthur's Pass to Fiordland National Parks
    Partly cloudy with isolated showers, sleety about the tops.

    WINDS
    Gale westerlies.

    FREEZING LEVEL
    2400 metres, sloping to 1300 metres in the south. Lowering to about 1300 metres everywhere by evening.
