    Brief forecast for the Mountains up to midnight on Thursday 21 October

    north island


    Ruahine and Tararua ranges
    Cloudy periods, scattered morning rain.

    Remaining North Island Mountain areas
    Often cloudy, isolated afternoon and evening showers.

    Mainly light, southwesterlies from the Ruahine Range southwards, tending southeast there in the evening.

    About 2500 metres.

    south island


    Fiordland and Mount Aspiring
    Fine. Early fog possible in some valleys.

    Remaining South Island mountain areas
    Mainly fine, but areas of cloud or fog morning and night, isolated afternoon and evening showers possible.


    2200 metres in the north sloping to 1200 metres in the south. Rising to 2600 metres, but 3000 metres about Fiordland.
