    Raukumara to Kaimanawa Forest Park
    Mostly cloudy with showers, some sleety with possible snow flurries. Showers heavy with small hail tomorrow, then clearing tomorrow evening.

    Egmont and Tongariro National Parks, also Tararua Forecast Park
    Partly cloudy, with isolated showers, possibly sleety about Tongariro and Tararuas this afternoon and evening. Becoming fine tomorrow afternoon.

    WINDS
    Southeasterlies, strong at times.

    FREEZING LEVEL
    About 1100 metres.


    south island



    Kaikoura ranges and the Southern Alps
    Cloudy with showers, some sleety with possible snow flurries, clearing from the Alps during the evening and the Kaikoura ranges tomorrow morning and becoming fine.

    Remaining South Island mountain areas
    Fine today. Cloudy periods tomorrow, and isolated showers about Fiordland.

    WINDS
    South or southeast winds, dying out south of Mount Cook this evening.

    FREEZING LEVEL
    About 1000 metres.
