    Brief forecast for the Mountains up to midnight on Saturday 27 April

    Mostly fine, but one or two showers about Egmont and Tongariro National Parks,
    mainly this afternoon.

    WINDS
    Southwesterlies, strong in exposed places, easing today.

    FREEZING LEVEL
    About 2200 metres, sloping to 1600 metres in the south and west. Rising to 2500
    metres everywhere this afternoon.

    Kaikoura ranges
    Fine.

    Kahurangi and Nelson Lakes National Parks, the Southern Alps and Mount Aspiring
    Mostly cloudy with a few showers until evening.

    Fiordland
    Often cloudy with showers, easing this evening. Snow possible to about 1300
    metres at first.

    WINDS
    Southwesterlies, strong in exposed places, easing today.

    FREEZING LEVEL
    1500 metres, sloping to 1000 metres in the south. Rising to about 2500 metres
    everywhere this afternoon.
