Northland to Manawatu, including Coromandel, Bay of Plenty and the central high country
A few showers, but brief morning rain, heavy and possibly thundery in the west from Auckland to Taranaki.
Gisborne to Wairarapa
Mainly fine. Some rain mainly about the ranges this morning, with severe westerly gales in exposed parts of Central Hawke's Bay and the Tararua District.
Horowhenua to Wellington
Mainly fine, but a period of heavy rain this morning.
Marlborough and Nelson
Mainly fine. Rain or showers becoming confined to the western ranges of Nelson this morning.
Periods of rain with possible squally thunderstorms and hail this morning.
Mostly fine. Brief showers this morning.
Otago, Southland, Fiordland
Periods of rain, with snow to 200 metres this morning, and possibly thundery. Southwest gales about coastal Southland and Otago for a time.

National Long Range Forecast to 21 May
North Island: Cloudy periods with a few showers in the west, especially south of Taranaki. Fine in the east and south of Manawatu. South Island: Showers in the west and south, easing. Fine elsewhere.
North Island: Cloudy periods in the west and north, with isolated showers in Northland. Fine elsewhere. South Island: Showers in the west, south of Buller, turning to rain later. Fine elsewhere.
North Island: Fine in the east. Isolated showers in the west, and developing in the south later. South Island: Rain spreading north in the morning, possibly heavy in the west, then easing to a few showers. Remaining dry in Nelson and inland Marlborough.
Rain easing to a few showers on Wednesday, with gale westerlies tending strong southwest. Cloudy periods on Thursday and southwesterlies easing. A few showers returning on Friday with northwesterlies.
