Auckland, Waikato and Waitomo, also Bay of Plenty
Areas of morning cloud, then manly fine. Chance of evening light rain in western Bay of Plenty.
Gisborne to Wairarapa
Morning cloud clearing, except in northern Gisborne with a few showers.
Taranaki to Kapiti Coast
Mainly fine. Isolated showers from afternoon, mainly inland and possibly heavy.
Wellington, Marlborough and Nelson, also Buller and Grey
Areas of morning cloud, then mainly fine. Isolated afternoon and evening showers inland, some heavy.
Westland and Fiordland
Mostly cloudy. Light rain or drizzle in Fiordland, spreading to Westland later.
Canterbury, Otago and Southland
Areas of low cloud or fog, especially in North Otago and Canterbury. Becoming fine in the morning.
Chatham Islands
Cloudy, except for afternoon fine spells.
