Significant Weather Statement
A rain band moves south over the North Island today. Heavy Rain Warnings are current for Coromandel Peninsula, Gisborne and Hawke's Bay, and a Strong Wind Warning for Horowhenua Kapiti Coast and Manawatu, with southeasterly winds expected to gust 120 km/h in exposed places.
Northland to Waitomo
Rain increasing this morning, possibly heavy, easing to a few showers in Northland and Auckland this evening.
Coromandel Peninsula, Bay of Plenty and the central high country, also Gisborne and Hawke's Bay
Rain increasing this morning, with heavy falls about Coromandel Peninsula, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne and Hawke's Bay.
Taranaki to Wellington, also Wairarapa
Fine at first, but clouding over. Rain developing this afternoon or evening.
For all the South Island
Fine in the west and about Nelson, but cloudy at times elsewhere with a few showers, mainly from afternoon. High cloud spreading south this evening.
Chatham Islands
Partly cloudy.
